Racoon Class Gallery

Spring Term 1

This week we explored evolution and Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection, often described as “survival of the fittest.” The children took part in a beak activity to investigate which type of beak was best suited to different environments.

Racoons week 6

This week we made our CAM toys and used our problem-solving skills to get them to work. They all look brilliant. Well done, Raccoons!

Racoons week 5:

This week, pupils used drama in English lessons to explore emotions and understand how authors use literary devices to build suspense. In history, pupils explored the eight key events that led to the end of the war, using playdough to highlight how the Allies worked together.

Racoons, week 4

During today’s P.E. session, students practised three fundamental gymnastics jumps — the tuck, straddle, and pike — performed off apparatus at varying heights (low, medium, and high).

Week 3, Racoons

Week 2, This week in PE, pupils focused on developing core strength, balance, and teamwork through partner-based activities. Using counter balance and counter tension, children worked together to support one another while maintaining control and stability.

Week 2, Racoons

fresh start of 2026. This week, we looked at primary sources of information by exploring a suitcase packed by a young boy and discussing what it tells us about his life when he was evacuated. We also listened to a first-hand account of evacuation and examined photographs to gather evidence about what evacuation was like.

Week 1, Racoon class

This week, we  painted our clay pots, carefully decorating them ready to be given as gifts. The children took great pride in their designs, and we were so impressed with the final outcomes — each one beautifully unique and thoughtfully created.

Week 6, Racoons

This week, Racoons used clay during DT to make Christmas candle holders. Very impressed with this years creativity and skill using the clay! Well done everyone.

Week 5 Racoons

Year 6 had an amazing time during our parent event! The children tested their handmade Anderson shelters by ‘dropping bombs’ onto them to see which structures were the strongest. Although not all shelters survived, the class discovered that the parabolic arch provided the best protection.

We are incredibly proud of the whole class for their wonderful recorder performance and expressive dances. Well done, Year 6! Your enthusiasm, teamwork, and creativity shone through and made the afternoon a tremendous success

Week 4, Parent event

This week, we worked in our groups to design and make our Anderson Shelters. I wonder which group made the strongest shelter.

Week 3, DT

On our WWII Day we travelled back in time and became evacuees. In the classroom we learned what life was like for children during WWII, and then we went ‘shopping’ with ration books to see how hard it was to buy food. It helped us understand how different life was in the 1940s.

Week 2 WWII day - Racoons

Week 1

This week we have explored bridge structures in preparation for building our Anderson shelters. We made gas mask boxes using our knowledge of nets and walked to the WWII hospital memorial.
