 23.2.26 - Take One Piece - Dale Chihuly

For our Take One Piece project this term, we looked at America glass artist Dale Chihuly. We decorated glass jars with flora and fauna using acrylic paint to recreate his style of work. We put candles inside the jars which was extremely effective and they looked beautiful.

20.3.26 - Art

In Art, we have been looking at plinths and how they are used to display a piece of art. We all made plinth people out of wire and material to show how anyone can be represented in a statue.

16.03.26 - Big Sing Parent Event

The children have been practising a range of songs and performed them beautifully.

 10.3.26 - Colchester Castle

Today, Year 4 went to Colchester Castle as part of our history topic on the Romans. We had time exploring the museum, building a Roman Villa and even got to go down into the vaults of the castle.

5.3.26 - World Book Day

Today, we celebrated World Book Day so children came dressed as different characters and words. They had the opportunity to explore the word they dressed as, spent time reading in Maisie's Garden and enjoyed learning about Michael Morpurgo's War Horse.

23.2.26 - English

In English, we looked at the story of Robin Hood. We made freeze frames of the key parts of the story.

Today in art, we made clay fruit tiles. We practised using etching, scoring, sticking and blending to make pieces of different fruits.

Today in P.E., we were looking at dodging and passing in basket ball.

Today we have been investigating how to make simple circuits with cells, wires, switches and lamps.

7.1.26 -English

In English, we have been looking at performance poetry. We really enjoyed learning and performing poems. We particularly liked Strict by Michael Rosen.

18.12.25 - Music and Christmas Carol Concert

We are delighted that we were able to share our singing and recorder skills in a Christmas performance by our Year 4 pupils.  Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our young performers.

Year 4 made traditional mince pies today as the fluency part of learning to make pastry and a festive treat. Net week, pupils will be creating their own version of a hand held sweet pastry for their final piece.

26.11.25 - P.E./History

Today, we combined History and P.E. and took part in The Olympic Games. We took part in chariot racing, discus, javelin, long jump, sprinting, archery and tug of war. We thought it was the best P.E. lesson ever!

25.11.25 - D.T.

Today we started our D.T. Topic of making mince pies. We spent some time looking at the features of mince pies and then tried some. We also tried jam tarts to give us more inspiration.

Today, we were investigating what happens to sound as it passes through solid, liquids and gases. We loved taking part in the experiments.

10.11.25 - P.E. 

In P.E., we started our new topic of Gymnastics. We recapped the basic gymnastic shapes and then looked at different partner balances.

We celebrated Odd Sock Day as part of Anti-Bullying Week. We talked about what makes us unique and how we can use our voice for the 'Power of Good'.

6.11.25 - Art

For our Take One Piece project this term, we looked at Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and created a piece inspired by her style. We used bright colours and repeated patterns, especially dots, to turn our class animal into something fun and eye-catching.
