Autumn Term

 

Week 3

This week saw us logging on to Google Classroom and Purple Mash. We had great fun touch typing - it is amazing how much we remember from Year 2!

We loved dressing up in red, white and blue to celebrate French Week. During the day, we looked at The Snail (L’escargot) which is a piece of art completed by the French artist Henri Matisse. We learnt the French words for colours and recreated ‘L’escargot’.

Week 2

This week, we have continued our history topic. We have learnt that the Stone Age was in a period called ‘Prehistory’ which means ‘before history’. We know that this means there was no written evidence that could help us build a picture of life during the Stone Age. After looking at cave paintings, we were able to learn about their daily life and animals that lived at the time.

We linked our understanding of ‘prehistory’ to our spellings. This week, we have learnt about the prefix ‘pre’. It means ‘’before’, so we explored how it changed a base word when we added it. 
Some examples we found were: preteach, preheat, prepare.

Week 1

Octopus class have had a great start to the Autumn term. It has been lots of fun seeing our friends, meeting our teachers and getting to know the routines of Year 3. We have spent time remembering the importance of rules and have set up our class rules.
