Autumn 1 Week 4
This week we have been enjoying French Week!
In PE, we played some French-inspired games including Baguette Relay, French Boules and Capture the Tricolore. In Maths, we became French shopkeepers and used euros to work out the cost of items and calculate change in our French shops. In Art, we created beautiful French sunsets using oil pastels, finishing our pictures with an Eiffel Tower silhouette.
We also celebrated our Times Tables Rock Stars Most Valuable Players from the last two weeks.

Autumn 1 Week 4 - Harvest Festival
To celebrate Harvest Festival, we welcomed Sheena from Great Notley Church. We discussed how love and kindness can change the world and came up with some fantastic ideas.
We worked together to create representations of friendship, with everyone holding hands and each person representing something different in our world. We also enjoyed acting out some scenes from Sheena’s story and discussing the importance of friendship, love and kindness.

Autumn 1 Week 3
This week in PE, we have been practising our yoga balances and developing our strength, control and flexibility.
In Geography, we have been using atlases to locate the capital cities of European countries.
In Science, we have been investigating the melting points of different materials. We made predictions before carrying out a class experiment to measure the temperature at which cheese, gummy bears, butter, dark chocolate and coconut oil changed from a solid to a liquid. We enjoyed comparing our results and seeing how different materials melt at different temperatures!

This week in PE, we have been developing our agility and practising changing direction. We had lots of fun racing and taking part in a variety of running games!
In Science, we have been exploring the different states of matter. In our outdoor classroom, we became particles to demonstrate how solids, liquids and gases behave. We showed how solid particles have strong bonds and very little movement, liquid particles have more movement and weaker bonds, and gas particles move freely with the weakest bonds. We had great fun bringing our learning to life!
To celebrate our first full week in Year 4, we enjoyed Tops Time at Adventure Play!

10.09.26 - World First Aid Day
To mark World First Aid Day, the children had great fun becoming first-aid heroes! Through practical role-play, they learnt how to stay calm and help someone who is having an asthma attack, bleeding, choking or has a suspected broken limb. It was fantastic to see them working together so sensibly and confidently while learning these important life skills.
